Our market leading Grid Consultancy business is expanding its offering in the US and we are looking for a Power Systems Engineer to join our team of specialist system planners and network study engineers. You are an EMT studies engineer that builds complex models and performs transient time domain simulation to analyze the behavior of renewable energy and network technologies. You work either in a utility, in a research lab, for an EMT or RTS software vendor, an OEM, or with a consultancy. Through your past projects, you have become familiar with ISO/RTO planning processes and have prepared technical reports describing your studies and justifying your conclusions and recommendations.

The role

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the delivery of a wide range of EMT studies including power system stability, insulation coordination, TRV, capacitor bank design, motor starting, and renewable energy integration
  • Undertake power systems studies including steady state, stability, and short-circuit studies for renewable and conventional generation resources across North America
  • Project management of individual projects
  • Prepare deliverables of exceptional quality within the agreed parameters in a defined format and within an agreed timescale
  • Support the preparation of technical proposals and estimates of hours
  • Share knowledge and mentor colleagues as appropriate, providing technical leadership within the team

The Job requirements:

We are looking for a motivated individual with the following minimum qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a specialization in Power Systems
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of power systems studies with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in transient and sub-transient analysis
  • Strong PSCAD/EMTDC modelling and simulation skills
  • A thorough understanding of the principles, characteristics, and modelling of HVDC, other FACTS devices, and emerging inverter based, grid forming technologies
  • Familiarity with sub-synchronous resonance phenomena, power system oscillations, and the interaction of control systems across the grid
  • Exposure to the emerging EMT model and study requirements of North American ISO/RTO and utilities
  • Registration, or eligibility to register, as a professional engineer in a US state
  • Legal right to work in the United States of America on a long-term basis.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively explain and discuss solutions with customers and colleagues
  • A passion for renewable and clean energy generation technology

The role

We are seeking an Asset Integrity Engineer (AIE) based in our Calgary location to provide support for existing and new clients.

Suitably qualified engineers with relevant certification such as API 580, 510, 570, 653, etc. and industry experience are required to support various critical ongoing and future integrity projects.

You will:

  • Plan, implement and manage pressure systems integrity programs
  • Develop and coordinate execution of NDE Programs, inclusive of Advanced Techniques
  • Assist specialists and/or seniors in delivering services to internal and external clients
  • Conduct technical assessments under close supervision against defined specifications/scope
  • Collect data, evaluate, and present reports as required and in alignment to the KPI’s and agreed processes
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards
  • Use IDMS software’s including GE APM, PCMS and other RBI software’s
  • Conduct systemization & circuitization
  • Create inspection test plans
  • Conduct anomaly assessment and categorisation
  • Be required to visit the client site to manage and supervise work scopes
  • Conduct client meetings to review progress and deliverables
  • Maintain focus whilst at client sites for new business/project opportunities and report back to line manager, business development manager and/or client account manager for follow up.

You will need:

  • Experience of risk-based inspection
  • Knowledge of NDT techniques, applications, and experience in inspection of pressure systems
  • Have one or more API certification i.e. 580, 510, 570, 653, etc. and have familiarity with industry standards
  • Experience with P&IDs, PFD’s, HMB’s and inspection isometrics
  • Familiarity with mechanical integrity software’s such as GE APM, PCMS and LR AllAssetsTM
  • To be an effective communicator

Your experience of process safety may have been gained working in an engineering design house, an operating company or a specialist safety consultancy. Strong spoken and written English language skills are critical for this role.

Your main focus will be project delivery, including workshop facilitation, execution of calculations and report writing. Depending on your experience, your role may also be expanded to include business development; managing projects, deliverables and budgets; managing client relationships; managing consultancy teams.

You will:

Technical tasks would typically cover:

  • Development of safety cases (onshore and/or offshore)

You will need:

  • A degree or a higher-level qualification in a relevant discipline, together with demonstrable experience in delivering consultancy in technical safety (e.g., HAZID, Quantitative Risk Assessment, Safety Case)
  • Strong Excel skills, including a basic understanding of VBA, with the ability to develop complex models in Excel would also be advantageous

The role:

The main function of the role is to travel to various locations both onshore and offshore, often on short notice, to perform surveys and assessments of electro/mechanical Controls equipment in line with external procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards

  • The Controls team members will assess Electro/Mechanical Controls equipment as outlined in the Service Delivery Procedure and/or workscope.
  • Responsible for equipment and systems inspections, risk assessments, identification of defective, faulty or malfunctioning equipment and systems and assist in the troubleshooting on all components and control systems as required.
  • Where any issues are identified, the surveyors will provide recommendations based on assessment findings, supported by back-up documentation. The recommendations will be based on the application of governing body rules, regulations, and recommendations, as well as manufacturer's engineering bulletins and product alerts.
  • The team members are responsible for observing all site-specific safety rules as well as company safety rules.
  • Additional responsibilities include identifying potential sources of downtime, reviewing, and applying lessons learned from other rigs, as well as identifying and documenting new lessons learned.
  • Surveyors are expected to establish and maintain a good working relationship with operator and drilling contractor personnel.
  • Daily reports will be compiled and submitted to the client for every day onsite. At the end of the assessment, the surveyor will complete all project documentation and submit to the office along with the final report.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Develop technically other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.

Primary Function:

  • Assessment, interpretation and analysis of integrated site investigation data leading to delivery of engineering guidance and recommendations
  • Act as Technical Authority within the geotechnical team, providing guidance and review of work carried out by other team members
  • Design and management of offshore geotechnical site investigations and integrated geoscience data acquisition programmes

  • In addition to the primary technical role, the successful applicant will be expected to undertake business development activities in-line with S&G’s growth strategy, including

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in an engineering subject, preferably Civil Engineering
  • Applicants will be in a strong position if they have a postgraduate degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology and are Chartered or working towards chartership

Experience and Competencies:

  • Substantial experience (e.g. 10 years plus) in a similar or relevant role, within the oil and gas, offshore renewables or offshore marine installation sectors
  • Good analytical and numerical skills
  • Detailed understanding and application of relevant offshore standards and design codes
  • Strong oil and gas or marine renewables background (with experience of both a distinct advantage)
  • Offshore site investigation contracting experience
  • Offshore foundation design experience
  • Competence in the use of numerical tools (finite element, limit analyses) would be an advantage
  • Specific practical installation experience with respect to foundations (i.e. driven and drilled & grouted piles, suction caissons) pipelines/cables (e.g. trenching, ploughing, jetting, CBRA development) would be an advantage

Vysus Korea, Risk Management Consulting (RMC) are looking to grow our team and are looking for engineers to join us a consultant specilising in failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA).

As of today, Vysus Korea mainly provide services to the energy industry (oil & gas, petrochemical for onshore and offshore) and maritime sector such as shipbuilding business, but are constantly looking for opportunities for new arenas. The competencies includes HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, quantitative risk analyses (QRA), qualitative risk analyses, impact assessments (e.g. CFD), RAM, SIL(Safety Integrity Level), FME(C)A, technical safety, fire integrity, structural integrity, barrier management, emergency preparedness analyses, escape study, and safety management.

The role:

With demonstrable experience in the field, you should have a degree or a higher-level qualification in engineering, or science; together with experience in delivering technical expertise in the Shipbuilding or equivalent sectors. Strong spoken and written English language skills are critical for this role.

Your main focus will be FMEA and related project delivery, including workshop facilitation, report writing, and witness of FMEA proving tests. Depending on your experience, your role may also be expanded to include business development; managing projects, deliverables and budgets; managing client relationships; managing consultancy teams.

Technical tasks would typically cover:

  • Carry out Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) especially on dynamic positioning (DP) system, redundant propulsion (RP) system, or safety critical systems onboard ships in accordance with international guidelines
  • Witness FMEA proving trials during vessel sea trials, requiring frequent domestic travels and offshore boat boarding.
  • Carry out and/or support other types of studies, such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Functional safety (SIL studies), QRA, etc.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Compilation of comprehensive, well written client reports, studies and plans
  • Preparation of proposals, submissions and tenders
  • Monitoring and management of studies
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with new or existing clients to identify business opportunities
  • Mentoring of junior consultants
  • Contributing to ongoing development of internal technical processes and software tools

Minimum Competency Requirements:

As a Senior HR Advisor with Vysus Group you will be part of a small global HR team and the role requires someone with a strong generalist background.
