Hydrocarbon discoveries have increased significantly in the Eastern Mediterranean, an area rich in minerals and characterised by high temperatures. It is estimated that the region holds large amounts of recoverable gas, but geopolitical and commercial factors present considerable challenges. For deepwater operations in the Mediterranean the typical deepwater well design might not be applicable in terms of cementing best practices and can have a significant impact on cost both in design and supply logistics.
